Thursday, September 10, 2020 – 7:00 – 8:30 PM
We’ve all been there – curled up on the sofa with a book we just can’t put down, engrossed in a story so captivating that we will stay up all night just to find out what happens next. But how do you write a book like that? And what happens when you finish writing, before your word document becomes a real-life book?
At this Writers’ Night, we’ll be talking all about how you can create brilliant stories that instantly hook your readers, as well as the more practical steps you can take to, one day, get your work on a bookshelf.
We’ll be joined by Kesia Lupo, author of We Are Bound by Stars (2020) and We are Blood and Thunder (2019), and Senior Editor at Chicken House Books, as we discuss all of the elements that make a good book. Kesia has helped countless authors perfect their work, ready for print, as well as crafting her own thrilling YA novel. She’ll be sharing her experiences of working in the book trade, as well as her advice for writing a good story.
There will also be a showcase of local writers (do get in touch if you’d like to share your work!) and a creative exercise to make sure you leave the evening raring to write.
